This is one of my dad’s fondest childhood memories from Passover. As you may know, Passover is the ultimate gluten-free holiday. In Israel, this means that during that week, and I mean EVERYTHING, gets a gluten-free version. Growing up around Tel Aviv, my dad used to frequent the local stadium to watch soccer matches. Typically, the vendors outside would sell hotdogs in buns, but during Passover, they had a unique twist: rolling the hotdogs in matzah and frying them to perfection upon order. Ever since my dad introduced it to us as kids, we’ve been asking for it every single year. It’s an incredible snack during the holiday, and honestly, all year long.

Lets Start Cooking!

step 1

Start by wetting the matzahs under running water for about 30 seconds. Then, gently shake off any excess water, place on a clean towel and cover with another towel. Let them soften for approximately 15 minutes in between the towels.

step 2

Then, working on one matzah at a time, trim the sides so the width of the matzah is a little shorter than the hotdog.

step 3

Wrap the matzah around the hotdog.

step 4

Beat one egg with a pinch of salt.

step 5

Dip each matzah-wrapped hotdogs in the egg, then fry them in hot oil from all sides until they are dark golden brown.

step 6

Serve hot and enjoy during the Passover holiday!

step 7

YASSS!
